Harness the power of social media to recruit new members for you Club, now you have a link to a form to include in your posts on Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Once you have an online Membership Application Form, the power to recruit new members using social media is so much easier. Simply include the link to your form within every post about joining your club. Then all you need to do is respond to the applicants who want to join your club, and invite them to attend an Optimist Meeting. I have recruited over 50 new members in the past few years this way.
In the examples of Facebook memes and text below I have indicated where to add the link to your own Online Membership Application Form with these words: formlinkhere. Where ever you see asterisks ***** please replace them with your Club name. You will notice that there are hashtags: #Optimist #JoinUs at the end of the posts. This makes these easier to find, and also are tracked as part of the total response made by social media posts. It is good to put posts about things your club does, has done or are planning to do between these posts about joining your club to demonstrate more about your club activities. On Facebook, please also follow other organizations and groups in your community. This will strengthen your presence and notoriety in your community. Please feel free to use and edit as you see fit. These are just some examples.

How do I use these on Social Media?
Go to the Pictures folder on your computer. Create a new folder called Optimist Memes. Come back to this webpage. Right click with your mouse on the meme and a menu will pop up. Choose the Save Image As (by clicking on it).
It will then take you to the Pictures folder on your computer. Click on the Optimist Memes folder. Give the meme a name like Remember for the one on the right above this paragraph. They will all need a unique name.
Then use your mouse to highlight the text beside the meme. Right Click and choose Copy. Then we have 2 choices:
1. Go to Facebook and click on Create Post and paste the text – don’t forget to fill in the link to your Membership Application Form. Then click on the picture icon under the text you just pasted in Facebook and go to where you saved the meme and choose it. It will then appear in Facebook. Click save and you are done!
OR
2. Then go to Word or any similar program to save the text. Create or open a new document. Type the word you named the meme that goes with the text and then right click and choose Paste to put the text into the document. Continue for each one you want, and save the document. When you are ready to post it to Facebook: Go to Facebook and click on Create Post and paste the text – don’t forget to fill in the link to your Membership Application Form. Then click on the picture icon under the text you just pasted in Facebook and go to where you saved the meme and choose it. It will then appear in Facebook. Click save and you are done!

If a picture is worth a 1,000 words then video is worth a 1,000,000. Good quality short videos are very appealing, particularly to the younger generations who enjoy YouTube as a source of information.
ADDING VIDEO TO SOCIAL MEDIA
In order to easily add video to social media, you need to download the video from its orginal source (usually YouTube) to the computer or device you will be using to post it to social media. When you are ready to add the video to a post on Facebook, as an example, just click on the image icon and scroll to where you stored the video on your computer or device and choose the video.
