It has already been such a rewarding year... I cannot tell you how much enjoyment I have had learning about all the great things you are doing for the youth in your respective communities.

Governor Tony Edge

We have just had our 2nd Quarter Conference and what a fantastic weekend of celebration for our Past Distinguished Governor Mac and First Lady Linda. We should be very proud of the accomplishments we reached last year and I am hoping to build on that as we roll on through the 2017-2018 year. We now look forward to our 3rd Quarter Conference which will be highlighting extremely gifted contestants in our oratorical competition. We also will be hearing the winning District Essay winner and once again I am sure we will all be impressed by each of the youth that will be participating.

It has already been such a rewarding year and I only have 7 more months left as your Governor. I cannot tell you how much enjoyment I have had visiting clubs, partaking in Zone meetings, Club functions and learning about all the great things you are doing for the youth in your respective communities.

As I am sure you have heard at our conferences plans are well underway for our annual International Convention in Ottawa that is taking place July 7-10. This is the first time the Optimist International Convention will be held in a nation's capital and we are planning to make it memorable.  The RCMP Musical Ride will be one of the highlights in a private show for delegates. For those of you who attended the CENON Convention in 2012, the Nepean Optimist Club will be providing boat tours of the Rideau Canal once again. The International Convention is a premier event for training and fellowship.  I encourage members to come out and interact with Clubs from around the World and find out what their passions are.

Our District Convention will also be taking place in Cornwall on August 17-19. We have many activities planned, great training seminars, interactive information sessions, as well as a fun weekend of activities. "Tilt Your Kilt II" is bound to be a roaring success.

I cannot stress enough that we do need registrations before deadlines in order to confirm numbers to the hotel for meals. I do not want any of you to miss out on the fellowship that these events provide.

In the meantime, please continue to make yourselves, your communities and the youth all the best they can be. I know that CENON (the best district in all of Optimist International) will provide hope and a positive vision, bringing out the best in kids, our communities, and ourselves.

Thanks for everything you have and are doing this year and remember, it is all about the youth as we strive to “Be the difference, Be Optimist Strong, YNot!”
